Goosync… three weeks on

A little while ago I did a little mini review on Goosyncing Google Calendar to my Nokia E71. Well this is the even shorter review which takes place after using it every second day or so.

The only negative that both Liz and I found is that a week or so ago we both couldn’t sync for a few days. An error message stating that a connection couldn’t be established or something. We presumed their server was down and were just patient and things returned to normal pretty quickly. Other than that it’s been a bundle of joy which works nice and seamlessly such that you don’t know it’s there.

If you want to sync your Google Calendar to your E71 (or anything on the S60 platform), get Goosync. Don’t worry about the subscription version unless you’re a super duper mega power user, the free version will do fine.

2008 in review.

I figure that I should probably do a filler post as the ‘last for the year’. I know I wont do it tomorrow — I’m not one of the lucky ones that has time off.
But anyway.

2008 in Summary:

January: Unemployed! I do miss it a little, but I don’t miss the no-money-coming-in thing.

February: Started with LEGO.

March: Spent lots of my pay on aforementioned LEGO.

April: Missed the Melbourne International Comedy Festival. Tried to ignore the coverage as much as possible.

May: According to our Google calendars, we wormed the cat. How exciting!

June: We started this blog, and I made the first post. June was also the month our hot water heater and electricity decided it wasn’t going to play fair.

July: I left LEGO and started with the mysterious Alliance.

August: Jarod created the LEGO Olympics. You may say that this should be in Jarod’s summary, but I don’t think you realise how much time, effort and table space was put into this. There was a very valid reason I made him pack the LEGO away at the end of the Olympics.

September: The second annual Train Day occured! Oh, and it was our one year anniversary. Aww.

October: Jarod finally got to meet my parents (lucky him) and I was no longer 21.

November: I got to see Emma finally get married. Through the lens, and all. (www.mrandmrshancock.com).

December: Jarod and I have now lived together for a whole year. And I keep forgetting special anniversaries like that. At least Jarod knows he’s pretty much guaranteed to look good when he remembers a date.

In 2007 I traveled a whole bunch - Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide… and this year kinda sucked that I only got to go to Bathurst, and that’s mainly because I wouldn’t have missed Emma’s wedding for the world. I didn’t get to see all the lovely people I made friends with in all those lovely cities (well, except Brisbane, I don’t call that city lovely), but thanks to the internets I can still say hi.

I have grand plans of going to Melbourne and Perth next year (along with our Brisbane trip for another wedding in Jan), but we’ll see how that goes. Apparently when it’s not a company business trip it costs money and you have to take annual leave. Aww.

Hope everyone has a fantastic New Year.

See you all in 2009.

We’ve already blogged about Train’s super ability to catch hair ties when flicked in her direction, but only tonight did we try take decent photos of it.

See how much kitty anger she has inside?

And can you imagine what those claws do to flesh?

Rear brakes and rides through the City on foggy mornings

Did I mention that I chucked the rear brakes on the Single Speed? Thought so. Well I did.

Even took it out for a 20km cruise into the city & toward the Opera House yesterday. Was quite foggy… so I photographed the said fog!

One year ago today, Jarod moved in with me. I thought it was sometime next week, until he went and got me a pretty necklace while I was otherwise distracted at the shops.

Somewhat unfair, seeing as we agreed not to get each other anything for Christmas, yet I still end up with pretty things. But I’m not about to complain…

Took the newly built up Single Speed for a cruise this morning around the burb’s. It definitely gets my tick of approval in the new colour and with the new components. Maxxis High Rollers are awesome for those easy to find jumps up and down gutters. Avid Codes are stunning… even with only the front brakes on (oops!) the stopping power is intense. Longer stem and flat bars are maybe a little bit too far forward, but geez they make the bike chuckable. Yep. All in all I’m super happy with how the paint and build has turned out thus far.

It’s also never looked better in my books. Lets finish this post with an old/new comparison.

The new. Taken in a laneway in the Inner West.
