Goodbye 2008, Hello 2009

Posted by: Jarod at 11:07 am, January 1st, 2009

Yay for sky explosions!! And Damish for once again letting us invade their rooftop!! And the City of Sydney for lashing out with 6 million dollars of fireworks in these times of financial crisis!! And to the sky writer who wrote ‘The Creator is Jesus‘ at about 8pm over Sydney Harbour!! And to horrible traffic coming back over the Harbour Bridge!!

Here’s to another fantabulous year on this humble little planet we call Earth.

New Years Eve in Sydney

New Years Eve in Sydney

New Years Eve in Sydney

New Years Eve in Sydney

New Years Eve in Sydney

New Years Eve in Sydney

I’ll be damned if I’m not having a much more quiet NYE in 2009.

I didn’t quite get the whole “The Creator is Jesus” thing over the sky. Theology class seems to mix up God with Jesus, even under the notion of the holy trinity surely the creator was God the Father, not God the Son ;)

Glad to see you had a smashing time too!

  2. Jarod says:

We didn’t really understand it either Joel. One theory we heard was that using the term God could have made it interchangeable with any other religion’s God.

Whoever wrote it seems to have made it only applicable to their religion subset, but at the cost of factual ‘accuracy’.

  3. Julian Gamble says:

I liked the skywriting. Take a read through the first 2 chapters of Genesis – it is definitely trinitarian.

  4. Joe says:

The theme of the Sydney fireworks was Aboriginal Creation and some hyped up Jesus fans wrote “the creator is jesus”, so not a christian thing to do!
