Don’t ride through dog shit on your bike.
An hour later you’ll have only just gotten the worst of it off.
And my golly it’s a handful. It’s a scary feeling when you forget you’re riding a fixed gear and the bike gently reminds you by trying to throw you off it. It’s also a scary feeling blasting down a hill at 40kph+ and knowing all too well you’re on a fixed gear.

Still though, it’s very fun and a very different way to ride.
Friday, 26th June is JarodandLiz.com’s birthday. Yay! We didn’t actually remember, but while I worked on my first ever* redesign of the site today, I checked the archives and worked it out. Hurrah!

I’ve had a really, really awesome week, so finally being able to something ‘proper’ on the computer was good fun.
Changes of note:
- Jarod and Liz posts are now together in the one column, for added confusion!
- There are no gradients in the design at all… I think this is a first for the site.
- It’s really, really, simple… because I’m still learning CSS, so wanted to start with something easy.
To celebrate we’re making soup for dinner. Mmm, soup.
*every other redesign has been done by Jarod, with me providing input as to what I wanted on my side. This time it was done by me, with no input. Surprise, Jarod!
About a month ago now I got the stem on the Salsa swapped over by the nice fellas at MCC. Sadly, Dirtworks were a bit retarded and stuffed up by sending out a stem with an oversize clamp diameter, so I got relegated to a 25.4mm Token stem that MCC had in stock.
Oh yes, and it’s black. And has token written all over it. And it’s way uglier than the original Salsa one.

I was, and still am a sad panda. I manage by almost constantly trawling ebay for a cheap’ish, nice, silver, 25.4mm clamp, 70-90mm long stem. One will turn up eventually… surely.
Most of all, the sadness is angriness at myself. At the end of the day, I traded a very sexy stem that had a tiny chance of being defective, for an ugly token stem which is going to get changed out anyway. In retrospect, I wish I’d shut my mouth about the recall to MCC & Dirtworks, nailed the original original Salsa stem to the wall as a show piece and bought a new one out of my own pocket.
Live and learn. Live and learn.
Cause I totally did. Got an okay price for it and it went to a good home, so you’ve gotta be happy with that. I was a little sad to see it go, as it was massive fun to ride, especially as a single speed. The following photos are it’s legacy in my head and on this blog.

I might venture back into the world of 29’ers eventually, and if I do it’ll be researched a whole heap more.
It appears that Victoria is going to be passing some, uhmm, how to put it…. stupid laws.
The details are here. There’s some discussion going on here.
Join the fun of riding bikes! (but don’t ride dangerously, else you might get slapped with a $13,610 fine, or prison for twelve months, or both!!)
Happy 3 month birthday for last Wednesday savvycat.

You’ve only been around a short while, but you’re already way more popular than what jarodandliz is. Even if you take the last spike of traffic regarding Train’s Cat Run out of the equation, savvycat is still doubling if not trebling the stats of this crappy blog.
Perhaps Liz really will be a crazy cat lady one day.

Yep. Still alive. Just really didn’t feel like posting in the last few weeks.
Some of it was the normal cyclical ebb and flow of blogging, but most of it was the double shot of a throat and middle ear infection. Fun stuff!!
I shall be getting back into the swing of posting now. Sorry for any inconvenience
So, I went to get lunch at work today and ended up wandering around the QVB.
Australian Geographic had ‘dinosaur footprints’ leading inside, and seeing as I like dinosaurs and had some time to kill, I followed them in. The next thing I know I’m clutching at a stegosaurus toy and wandering around the store aimlessly. Stegface wouldn’t let me leave without him. (I did purchase him, by the way. I didn’t just wander out.)

Good thing Jarod doesn’t mind sharing the house with a cat and a stegosaurus!

That is all.
