Liz and I picked up our shiny wedding/engagement rings. Terribly exciting!

Fox F29’s… now at 80mm

Well. I gave them 12 hours and 200kms on the bike, but the 120mm of travel just wasn’t working out. Most of the time it was good and cruisey (especially with the 120mm of squish), but in technical sections or uphill grinds the bike would handle way too unpredictably. I carried a shock pump with me for all of those 200kms and would experiment on the same section of Loftus with different pressures/rebound rates to try and get it feeling right, but it just never did. In the end I decided that 120mm of travel was excessive and was slackening the head angle too much.

So it was off to TBSM with them yesterday to have them reduced to either 100mm or 80mm. After much fretting I went with the 80mm as it got the the axle to crown measurement bang on what the frame is designed around (if not a bit shorter for XC racey goodness). And besides, 100mm of travel would still be overkill when you consider how those monster truck 29′er wheels roll over things!

I’ve only gone for a few laps around the block, but already the bike is feeling more snappy & has the handling it used to have when I was running the Kona P2 fork. So I’ve got high hopes of being able to dial the fork in for the style of XC riding I do.

The mask on Liz’s face is a left over from the Megan Washington show last Friday night. Which incidentally was most excellent.

Megan Washington is as good live as Train is at scratching Liz’s arms.

(As for the question in the title of this post… I’m still not sure. Suggestions are very welcome)

74/365 – Train Attacks!

News just to hand… Train re-enacts the movie Psycho. Liz more aiming for the movie E.T.

When Train’s in one of her angry cat moods, she’ll often attack Liz or I. This isn’t normally a problem be cause we can see it coming and run/dodge/launch our own attack. But when the angry cat moments coincide with Liz Shower Time, that’s when the fun starts.

See, what Train will do is sit on the cistern of the toilet which is adjacent to the shower. From there she’ll bat at the shower curtain (claws in, lest she rip holes in the curtain and get stuck) til she gets Liz’s attention. Once attention has been gained, Liz will do the one thing she shouldn’t and play with Train around the curtain. Train sees this as the beginning of super happy fun times and starts playing with the rapid movement on the other side of the curtain (claws out, cause it’s time to do some damage). Damage is inevitably done. Liz flicks Train with water from in the shower. Train runs away. Game over.

Watching these sorts of videos are great for my inspiration, but potentially horrible for my bank balance. Cost aside, the combination of a Nikon D3s & tilt shift lens are looking mighty fine right about now.

72/365 – Lots of sugar.

So we decided that we should probably stop meeting Laura in laneways, so it was agreed that we’d meet at the newest gelato place on Enmore Road – Cow & the Moon.

With the gelato and massive iced chocolate I think we might have completely exceeded our recommended sugar intake for the day. Which probably explains the jazz hands.

We did all try to fit into the one frame, but it turns out 30mm isn’t quite wide enough for three people gathered around a small table.

Thanks Laura for the iced chocolate! And talking! And reason for the strange looks from the staff! ;)

We also ran into a beautiful white kitty on the way home, after purchasing some celery for Train. We decided to test it on her first…

… and the kitty totally blissed out. So we excitedly went home to Train… who wasn’t actually interested in the green stuff that cost us $1.79 from the IGA. Sigh.
