Yesterday I rode the Dirtworks 50km (in the single speed category, of course). The short version of this wrapup is that it was good/okay, but I’m not sure I’d ever do it again. Want more? Keep reading. But be warned, the words are spewed from my brain without much editing… and there are a fair(click to read the full post)
It appears the pain from this year’s Dirtworks has been forgotten, as last week I signed up for the 2010 race. I had a bit of indecision between the 50 & 100km events. The 50km appealed cause it can be treated like a short, sharp sprint. The 100km cause it’s epic and a helluva challenge.(click to read the full post)
Since I did the mammoth 75km ride last last Sunday (for the Spring Cycle), I’ve been extraordinarily lazy with my riding. I got a lil bit flu’ey and run down and just didn’t really get back into the swing of turning the pedals over. The intermittent rain over the course of the long weekend didn’t(click to read the full post)
About a month ago now I got the stem on the Salsa swapped over by the nice fellas at MCC. Sadly, Dirtworks were a bit retarded and stuffed up by sending out a stem with an oversize clamp diameter, so I got relegated to a 25.4mm Token stem that MCC had in stock. Oh yes,(click to read the full post)
Just a small update on my Giant Iguana Single Speed. It’s all broked. Basically, a few weeks before Dirtworks, the bottom bracket started making a clicking sound. Well, the short version is that on Sunday I had an absolute blast. The long version follows. (and be warned, it really a long one!) Woke up on Sunday morning at 4am. Showered, ate, got bike gear together. Liz and I were in the car driving to the start line by 5:30am. One and a(click to read the full post)
Dirtworks is 22 days away. Not overly sure how I’m going to go with the amount of training I’ve done. I can rattle off 20kms pretty comfortably, 30kms if I properly have to. But I kinda signed up for the 50km event…. Mmm. Now there’s motivation to be awake at 6am on the Saturday of(click to read the full post)
110km won’t sound like much to a seasoned bike riding professional, but it’s what I’ve accomplished in the last 7 days. Why? It’s the beginning of me ramping up training for the 50km Dirtworks mountain bike race. My legs currently feel like jelly, but that’s okay, they’ll toughen up in a few weeks. And I’ve(click to read the full post)
You know what would have made a good 365? Jarod getting ready for Dirtworks. Or even Jarod crossing the finish line at Dirtworks. Or even Jarod receiving his prize for coming second place in the Men’s 50km Single Speed category. I’m sure they all would have been much more exciting than this – a photo(click to read the full post)
